“Ain’t Life Suite” with SCF’s Bradenton Symphony Orchestra

(Bradenton, Fla., April 10, 2018) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) Bradenton Symphony Orchestra is celebrating all that’s “suite” in its upcoming concert “Ain’t Life Suite” featuring Ann Hobson Pilot, who was the principal harpist for the Boston Symphony Orchestra for more than 40 years. Impress your sweetheart and friends by inviting them along for the concert at 7:30 p.m. April 19 at SCF’s Neel Performing Arts Center, 5840 26th St. W., Bradenton.

SCF’s Bradenton Symphony Orchestra will celebrate the instrumental form of the suite throughout the evening. Pilot, who also has performed with the Boston Pops and the National Symphony Orchestra and last summer was presented with the League of American Orchestras’ highest honors, The Golden Baton, will be featured on Harry Somers’ “Suite for Harp and Chamber Orchestra.” The piece is in four-movements and consists of a full string section and flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon.

The symphony orchestra will perform Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “English Folk Song Suite,” a three-movement work adapted for symphony orchestra. The orchestra will finish the night with the popular “Peer Gynt Suite” by Edvard Grieg. The four-movement suite for orchestra is filled with familiar melodies.

Ticket holders are invited to a reception and music discussion at 6:30 p.m. in the SCF Fine Art Gallery adjacent to the SCF Neel Performing Arts Center lobby. Refreshments will be served.

General admission tickets are $15, student and staff tickets are $5. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit or call 941-752-5252.
