SCF Math Department Holds Annual ACES Competition

(Bradenton, Fla., May 3, 2018) — Top math students from public and private high schools in Manatee and Sarasota counties recently participated in the annual Math ACES competition at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF). SCF mathematics faculty create, administer and grade exam questions.

Top scorers from each participating school were Daniel Shinkarow, Booker High; Matthew DuBois, Braden River High; Katrina Winkler, Cardinal Mooney High; John Hedman, Bradenton Christian; Connor Catlett, Lakewood Ranch High; Jason Edelkind, Manatee High; Lin Huang, North Port High; Zijiao Liu, Out-of-Door Academy; Marissa M. Hudson, Palmetto High; Joseph Flahavan, Pine View; Emma Vesco, Riverview High; Jack Berry, Saint Stephen’s Episcopal; Ian Vanarsdall, Sarasota High; Jared St. Lawrence, State College of Florida Collegiate School; and Liam Hines, Venice High.

Each top scorer is recognized at their school and receives a $150 cash award and a certificate at the school’s senior awards ceremony.

The event is sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the American Public Works Association Suncoast Branch, the Education Foundation of Sarasota County, Florida Engineering Society Myakka Chapter and Sunshine Realty Tampa.
