SCF Music Theatre Alumni Take the Stage for Summer Cabaret

(Bradenton, Fla., May 31, 2018) — Six State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) alumni, all who pursued additional education and have continued to perform throughout the region, have teamed up with two friends of SCF music now working for the Asolo Repertory Theatre for an evening of showtunes and Broadway hits to raise funds for SCF’s Music Theatre program. The Summer Cabaret will take place at 7:30 p.m. June 14 and 15 at SCF’s Howard Studio Theatre, 5840 26th St. W., Bradenton. Tickets, available only at the door, are $10, and additional donations also are welcome.

The evening will kick off with a special opening number that includes current SCF Music Theatre Ensemble students and features several audience favorites, such as “There’s No Business Like Show Business.” Other featured selections will be “We Can Do It,” “Lullaby of Broadway,” “All I Ask,” “Anything You Can Do” and “Wunderbar.” 

Participating alumni are A.J. Cali, now pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in musical theatre at the University of Tampa (UT) ; Johana Davila, a graduate of UT with a B.F.A. in musical theatre; Alexander Zickafoose, choral director and director of outreach at Booker High School VPA Music; Samone Hicks, who graduated with a Master of Music from the University of Florida; Brandon Guzman, a recent UT graduate with a B.F.A. in musical theatre; and Katelyn Priest, a recent graduate of Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts in music. They are joined by Corinne Gabrielson Deckard, general manager at Asolo Repertory Theatre; and Dave Addis, company manager at Asolo Repertory Theatre. 

“I’m thrilled to see the talent our alumni have continued to cultivate since graduating from SCF,” said Melodie Dickerson, music program chair. “Their enthusiasm in planning this cabaret to help raise funds for their alma mater shows how much they value SCF’s contribution to their careers.”
