SCF to Offer Free Math, Writing and Reading Boot Camps for Students

(Bradenton, Fla., June 26, 2018) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will offer free boot camps to students to help prepare them for required classes in math and writing and to assist them with reading skills. The free boot camps will be offered at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W. and SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail.

The math boot camp will help prepare students for Intermediate Algebra, Topics in Mathematics and Liberal Arts Math. The writing boot camp is for students taking SCF’s developmental writing courses or Written Communication I. Students entering college for the first time who have not previously had experience reading collegiate textbooks will benefit from the reading boot camp.

The math and reading boot camps will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday, from Aug. 6 to 16. The writing boot camp will take place the same days from 1 to 3 p.m. Students are encouraged to choose a morning boot camp, bring a lunch, and stay for the afternoon writing boot camp.
