SCF Offers Connections for National Book Lovers Day

(Bradenton, Fla., Aug. 7, 2018) — The libraries at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) offer books in any format, including bestsellers, novels, literature, mysteries and art books. SCF students and staff have access to e-books and audiobooks to read on their tablets or other devices, or to listen to on their ride to work or school, making it even easier to celebrate National Book Lovers Day, recognized on Aug. 9.

Overdrive, a platform made available through SCF’s collaboration with the Tampa Bay Library Consortium (TBLC), is free to SCF students and staff. E-books and audiobooks in Overdrive are checked out on loan and can be downloaded to personal devices through the Overdrive app.

SCF libraries offer an array of resources and services, including classics, children’s books, young adult books, DVDs, magazines, newspapers, journals and internet access. Librarians are available to help with research needs.  Anyone with a current Manatee, Sarasota or Charlotte County public library card and a photo ID may register for book borrowing privileges. Library card-holders in good standing may borrow books for up to three weeks and DVDs for up to one week. To register, simply take your public library card and register with SCF Public Safety, located in building 14 in Bradenton or building 500 in Venice where you can sign the SCF Library application form. SCF community cards are required for entry into the SCF libraries and are valid for one year.
