(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 30, 2018) — State College of Florida Collegiate School (SCFCS) will host information sessions and begin accepting applications for the new tuition-free charter school in Venice for fall 2019 enrollment. Prospective families with students entering 11th grade should attend an information session at the library, Building 300, Room 325 at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. Sessions are scheduled for 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, Wednesday, Nov. 14, and Tuesday Dec. 4.

Students who are interested in the Accelerated College Program (ACP) must have a 3.0 unweighted grade-point average and pass the Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT) before their application will be considered. Applications will be available after each information session. The Collegiate School guidance department is available for assistance during this process. Collegiate School students are selected through random drawings beginning at the end of January.

About 100 high school juniors will get the first opportunity to enroll at SCFCS in Venice during the school’s inaugural year. The Sarasota County School Board unanimously approved the application for the new charter school over the summer. In its second year, the school will boast both juniors and seniors. By 2022, SCFCS Venice will be host to about 400 high school students.
