SCF Students Donate Supplies and Volunteer at Children First

(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 6, 2018) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) History and Political Science Club and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society donated supplies and volunteered at Children First in North Port on Oct. 16. Donation boxes were placed at various locations at SCF Venice, and students, club members, faculty and staff donated toys, books, clothes and other needed supplies to help children and families in the community.

Jean Ward, volunteer coordinator at Children First, thanked the SCF students for the visit and the thoughtful donations. "They added an extra surprise and fun for the children!" said Ward.

Michael Rogers, SCF associate professor and club advisor, said the students learned a lot about the mission of Children First and the services they offer to the community. The learning experience was so successful that both clubs are planning to volunteer again at Children First.
