SCF Honor Society Students Help to Keep Manatee Beautiful

(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 13, 2018) — The Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society Nu Zeta Chapter at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) completed its first roadside cleanup of the year on Oct. 13 in Bradenton. The society chapter has partnered with Keep Manatee Beautiful and the Adopt-a-Road program for the past eight years, keeping 34th Street West clean from 60th Avenue West to 53rd Avenue West.

Volunteers collected eight bags of trash and one bag of recyclables, contributing a total of 21 hours of service to the community.

“One of the four hallmarks of PTK is service to the community,” said Janet Samuels, associate professor and chapter advisor. “Our volunteers enjoy the opportunity to help keep this stretch of road along SCF Bradenton free from trash as it enhances the quality of life for students and area residents.”
