SCF Students Get a Head Start on Their Careers at Job Event

(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 29, 2018)—The Career Resource Center at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) joined with the Cross College Alliance and the Gulf Coast CEO Forum to host its annual Mind the Gap networking event last month. Mind the Gap is a premier networking opportunity for students who are introduced to nearly 60 local businesses.

The event, which took place at Robarts Arena, allowed businesses to connect with about 200 college students through engaging programming and hands-on internship and job exploration. The conference allowed high school students to explore college options and how college can help them obtain their career goals.

Business leaders who participated from across the region, included those from Tropicana, Encompass Health, The Bradenton Area Economic Development Corporation, Tervis, Dealers United, Mote Marine Laboratories and SouthTech.

SCF graphic design students Tara Khleif and Megan Yost attended the event and had an opportunity to meet with Gina Santoianni of Mote to discuss their goals. Students who participated also were able to meet potential mentors from the Gulf Coast CEO Forum.
