SCF Symphonic Band Will Make You Want to Hug Your Valentine
(Bradenton, Fla., Jan. 29, 2019) — The State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Symphonic Band may have you more in your head than in your heart this Valentine’s day as they present their concert “I Love you to Death” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14 at SCF’s Neel Performing Arts Center, 5840 26th St. W., Bradenton. It may be an ominous title, but the music is sure to delight the audience.
The Stiletto Brass Quintet will perform a medley of songs about love ending, including “Lovers No More,” “After You’re Gone” and “I Wonder Who’s Kissing Her Now.” Stiletto Brass Quintet, formed in 2010, has gained exposure as a leading ensemble. They have performed at the International Women's Brass Conference, the International Trumpet Guild Conference, the National Trumpet Competition, the Great American Brass Band Festival and in concerts across the country.
SCF’s Symphonic band also will play selections “Overture to Romeo and Juliet” by Peter Tchaikovsky, “Symphonic Dances” from “West Side Story” by Leonard Bernstein and “Death and Transfiguration” by Richard Strauss.
