SCF Communications and Marketing Director Selected for Leadership Florida’s Connect 10 Class

(Bradenton, Fla., September 6, 2019)Jamie M. Smith, director of communications and marketing at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), has been selected to participate in Leadership Florida’s Connect 10 class. Smith is one of 46 Florida leaders who will participate in the eight-month learning experience in five Florida communities.

Created as a Leadership Florida program in 2009, Connect develops existing and emerging leaders, including corporate executives, business owners, educators, elected officials and higher education professionals. The program focuses on issues and opportunities that are Florida-specific while also furthering leadership skills and development in its participants.

Smith joined SCF in 2015 to lead the public relations and marketing efforts for the College. She has more than 20 years of integrated marketing experience and knowledge and a wealth of experiences across multiple platforms. Under Smith’s direction, the Communications and Marketing department at SCF has earned numerous awards while building comprehensive marketing campaigns to further the strategic mission of the College.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity Leadership Florida and SCF have presented me to grow as a leader and expand my knowledge of our state through participation in the Connect program,” said Smith.

Smith holds an MBA in Management and Marketing from University of Phoenix, graduating with honors. She is a graduate of the 2018 Gulf Coast Leadership Institute and a member of the American Marketing Association, Association of Florida Colleges, Council for Advancement and Support of Education, and the Florida Public Relations Association.  

Leadership Florida Connect will hold its opening session Sept. 11-13 in Howey-in-the-Hills. Later sessions will be held in Pensacola, Tallahassee, Miami and Boca Raton.
