SCF Student Wins Back-to-Back Film Society Scholarships

(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 22, 2019)State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) student Kim Galway was awarded $2,000 from the Sarasota Film Society’s Barbara Caras Scholarship program for the second year in a row. The purpose of the scholarship is to support local students who are majoring in film, computer animation, creative writing, motion design or illustration.

Galway was one of five scholarship recipients, chosen from a pool of approximately 20 applicants from colleges and universities across Florida. The scholarship recipients were honored during an intimate awards ceremony hosted by the Sarasota Film Society at Lakewood Ranch Cinemas.

The Film Program at SCF offers an Associate in Science in Digital Cinema, an Associate in Arts in Motion Picture Technology and a one-year certificate in live event media production. To learn more about studying film at SCF or to apply, visit
