SCF to Honor Veterans at Two Special Events

(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 29, 2019)State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) is hosting community events designed to recognize all branches of the military at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 8, in the Library & Learning Center Forum at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W. and the Performance Pavilion at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. Both events are free and open to the public.

SCF alumnus and veteran Todd Hughes will speak at SCF Bradenton about the importance of veterans being involved and connected to the local community in order to avoid isolation. Hughes will share details of his experience as a veteran and discuss a program called “Lutz Buddy Up Manasota,” where military and first responders can meet for conversation, peer support and community building.

Marine Corps veteran Jeremiah J. Robinson will share his story at the SCF Venice event. He will also talk about “Lutz Buddy Up Manasota” and his work with career development programming for veterans in the local community through Goodwill Manasota.
