SCF Hosts 14th Annual Arts and Letters Day

(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 5, 2019)The Department of Language and Literature and the Department of Art, Design and Humanities at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will co-host prestigious writer Owl Goingback and acclaimed sculptor Taylor Robenalt during the 14th annual Arts and Letters Day, starting at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14 in the Selby Room, SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. The events are free and open to the public.

Goingback, an internationally-celebrated author of speculative fiction, will give a reading from his work at 12:30 p.m. Goingback has written numerous novels, children’s books, short stories, and magazine articles, including “Tribal Screams,” a recent collection of fantasy and horror stories. His novel “Crota” won the Bram Stoker Award for Best First Novel.

Robenalt, a distinguished artist known for her innovative ceramic sculptures, will engage in a discussion of her work at 2:00 p.m. Robenalt draws on animal and human forms, and images of flora and fauna, to express and illustrate emotional states of being. Her work has appeared in many ceramic shows, including Garden Party at the Watson Macrae Gallery, Sanibel, Florida.; Migracion, Leon, Mexico; and Bookends at the University of Minnesota’s Architecture Library Gallery, Minneapolis.

Arts and Letters Day is designed to raise awareness and creativity among students and guests of SCF.
