SCF Athletes Volunteer Throughout the Community on “Day of Champions”

(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 19, 2019)Athletes from across State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) five sports donated their time to help those in need Saturday, Oct. 26, during the second annual “Day of Champions.”  Collectively, they contributed more than 340 community service hours to projects across the region.

Led by Tom Parks, head coach of SCF basketball, and in coordination with United Way Suncoast, Manatees volunteered at Church of the Holy Spirit, Habitat for Humanity, Hope Family Services, Keep Manatee Beautiful, Turning Points and United Way. Projects completed included the installation of doors, clearing overgrown vegetation, mulching, picking up debris at Coquina Beach, and painting the exterior of a veteran’s home. The “Day of Champions” endeavors were supported by sponsors Southern Edge Apparel and Maple Street Biscuit Company.
