SCF Launches Parrish Academic Programming with Four January Classes

(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 26, 2019)State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) kicks off its “Parrish After Dark” professional and personal development courses in January at convenient locations in Parrish. Topics covered in the courses will include leadership, professional development, computer classes and foreign languages. The class offerings were selected by SCF after consultation with the Parrish Civic Association, the Parrish YMCA, the Parrish Foundation and local focus groups.

“Social Media Marketing for Small Business” will be offered Tuesday, Jan. 14, 6-9 p.m. with instructor Mimi Sheffer, a member of the Parrish Civic Association board. The course costs $99. Sheffer will present the fundamentals of popular techniques in social or digital marketing for small businesses.

“How to Showcase Your Small Business at Exhibitions, Festivals & Conferences” will be offered Wednesday, Jan. 15, 6-8 p.m. with instructors from the Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. The course costs $69. Participants will learn cost-effective methods for showcasing a small business at chamber expos, community festivals and industry conventions.

“Planning for Retirement” is a two-session course which will be held Tuesday, Jan. 21 and Thursday, Jan. 23, 6-8 p.m. Gardner Sherrill, a certified financial planner with more than 20 years of professional experience, will lead the course. Registration costs $79.

“Techniques to Improve Your Memory” will be offered Wednesday, Jan. 22, 6-9 p.m. with instructor Lori Roth. The course costs $49. Participants will learn new and creative techniques to quickly commit important information to memory.
