SCF to Offer Wide-Ranging STEM Camps in Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch

(Bradenton, Fla., April 1, 2021) The Coding Academy at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) is offering in-person STEM camps for elementary, middle and high school students this summer. The fun and affordable camps will feature a variety of STEM-related subjects taught in age-appropriate formats, with a focus on coding and robotics.

Half-day sessions for rising second- to fifth-graders will be available at SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Parkway E., Sarasota. Full days will be offered to middle and high school campers at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., Bradenton.

“We are thrilled to provide a summer camp experience for kids to become immersed in engaging activities designed to kick-start their future in science, technology, engineering, and math,” said Desh Bagley, director of SCF’s Coding Academy. 

TheSTEM-tastic Summer Camp” at SCF Lakewood Ranch runs June 7 to July 2 and costs $150 per week. Each week of camp will be theme-based. Activities include robotics, coding, Minecraft, game design and drones. The weekly camps will build on skills for returning campers and introduce new campers to beginner skills.

Full-day weekly camps at SCF Bradenton for middle and high-school students cost $250 and include:

  • “Robotics and Engineering Camp” for rising sixth- to 11th-graders, June 14-18, with curriculum in coding and robotics, with competitions to determine the best robot design.
  • “All Girls Manufacturing and Design Camp” for rising fifth- to ninth-graders, July 12-16, exploring robotics, coding, movie making, apparel design and entrepreneurship.
  • “Robotics and Engineering Camp” for rising eighth to 12th-graders, July 19-23, covering robotics, drones, coding, movie making, graphic design and entrepreneurship.
