SCF’s ASN Program Ranked Top Five in Florida

(Bradenton, Fla., April 1, 2021)State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) Associate in Science in nursing (ASN) program has been ranked number four by RegisteredNursing.org on their list of “Best RN Programs in Florida.” The organization analyzed 151 nursing programs statewide.

RegisteredNursing.org offers education and employment resources for current and prospective nurses. The organization uses a rigorous ranking methodology to assess nursing programs on factors including accreditation, graduation rates, cost of attendance, and how well a program supports students toward licensure and professional success.

“SCF’s nursing program success can be attributed to our strong students, innovative faculty, generous clinical partners, supportive administrators and caring Foundation donors,” said Dr. Tammy Sawmelle, chief nurse administrator and director of SCF nursing. “I am confident that our nursing programs and graduates will continue to lead the way in Manatee and Sarasota counties.”

In 2020, more than 99% of SCF’s nursing graduates successfully pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN), which is nearly 30% higher than the state average. The NCLEX-RN exam is used by all nursing state boards in the United States to assess a student’s competency.
