We continue to regularly assess and take into consideration the recommended COVID-19 safety guidelines from the Florida Department of Health. The personal safety of students, faculty and staff is our top priority. 

Please “Spread Kindness, Not Germs.” If you are sick or exhibiting any symptoms, stay home.

All SCF campuses are open to the public, masks are optional, and the COVID-19 vaccine is highly recommended but is not required.

Please bring your vaccine card if receiving the second dose of Pfizer or Moderna's primary series or if you are seeking a booster. A legal guardian must accompany children 12-17 years of age. Vaccines for ages 11 and younger will not be available.

February 22, 2022 Update:

As the spread of COVID-19 continues to impact our region, we will continue to update you on the number of individuals from SCF who have self-reported that they have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been on campus during the exposure period. The figures are updated Monday through Friday by 1 p.m. and include the cumulative total since the start of the Summer 2022 semester. Case totals for each semester can be found on the previous updates page.

If you have been tested for COVID-19, and no matter how confident you are the symptoms are not the result of COVID-19, please stay home until you receive your test results and are cleared to return to campus. Instructors will work with students, and supervisors will work in partnership with Human Resources to make appropriate accommodations for employees experiencing symptoms.

January 4, 2022 Update: We continue to meet regularly to assess and take into consideration the recommended COVID-19 safety guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The personal safety of students, faculty and staff is our top priority, and we will provide additional updates regarding our campus services and COVID-19 safety precautions by Friday, Jan. 7.

Spring semester classes begin Monday, January 10, 2022. Students may register online via My.SCF.edu and new students may apply at SCF.edu. Students or new students may also schedule an appointment with Admissions via our “Visit SCF” page or scan the below QR code.

SCF’s Food Pantry is accessible to students via Public Safety by calling SCF Bradenton at 941-752-5550 or SCF Venice at 941-408-1550. A free and confidential counseling support line is also available at 941-752-5107.

If you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home and use the COVID-19 reporting form.

The Manatee County Department of Health (DOH) will host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at SCF Bradenton on January 20. The clinic will take place in the Library & Learning Center from noon-2 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

Available shots include the first dose of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, and the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Booster shots will also be available for all three vaccines. For eligibility information, please visit FloridaHealthCovid19.gov/Vaccine-Eligibility. Individuals 17 and younger must be accompanied by a guardian.

Persons in need of the second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine can receive the shot at several local pharmacies, including CVS, Walgreens and Publix. Visit FloridaHealthCovid19.gov to find a convenient location. 

September 7, 2021 Update: Please “Spread Kindness, Not Germs.” If you are sick or exhibiting any symptoms, stay home and communicate with your professor or supervisor.

Use this Student and Employee COVID-19 Reporting Form to report your illness.

If you have been tested for COVID-19, and no matter how confident you are the symptoms are not the result of COVID-19, please stay home until you receive your test results and are cleared to return to campus. Instructors will work with students, and supervisors will work in partnership with Human Resources to make appropriate accommodations for employees experiencing symptoms.

Also, as a reminder, masks are strongly encouraged on campus while inside when proper social distancing cannot be practiced, for individuals not fully vaccinated or if preferred by the individual.

As a reminder, the following are effective August 9:

  • Masks are optional but recommended for those not fully vaccinated or if preferred by the individual.
  • Classrooms will operate at 100% capacity for in-person learning.
  • On-campus events are open, including musical performances and intercollegiate athletics. Event attendees should review event descriptions for any precautions or restrictions in place prior to the day of the event.
  • SCF campuses will be open to the public.
  • SCF faculty, staff and students can resume travel, both in district and out of district.
  • The COVID-19 vaccine is highly recommended but is not required. SCF will be hosting vaccination clinics and will provide lists below of vaccination sites.

We will continue to meet regularly to assess and take into consideration the recommended COVID-19 safety guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Florida Department of Health and the Florida Department of Education. The personal safety of students, faculty and staff is our top priority, and we will provide regular updates regarding our campus services and COVID-19 safety precautions.

Our campuses are still undergoing diligent cleaning on a regular basis and hand sanitizer is available in areas with high volumes of personal interactions. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms at any time, please stay home and self-quarantine regardless of if you are vaccinated. 

August 16, 2021 Update: Beginning August 10, 2020, we have tracked the number of individuals from SCF who have self-reported that they have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been on campus during the exposure period. The College made an effort to notify anyone who may have been in contact with these individuals during their time on campus. The College is tracking cases for the 2021-2022 academic year on the Return to Campus Page, but is no longer contact tracing for potential exposures.

July 2, 2021 Update: We want to wish you a safe and healthy 4th of July holiday weekend! The College will be closed Monday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day.

For SCF’s Fall 2021 semester, it is our intention to resume normal operations, including lifting limitations on SCF events and welcoming all visitors to our campuses.

We will meet regularly to assess and take into consideration the recommended COVID-19 safety guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Florida Department of Health and the Florida Department of Education. We will provide an updated communication for our Fall semester on Friday, July 23, 2021.

Fall registration is open with classes available on-campus, online, Go Live and/or in blended formats. Current students may register online at My.SCF.edu and new students may apply at SCF.edu/Admissions.

We are also monitoring the weather and Elsa in conjunction with the Emergency Operations Centers of Manatee and Sarasota counties. All classes and business functions are currently operating as scheduled. We will continue to monitor and post an update if the status of our hours of operation changes.

Students, faculty and staff should monitor all communications channels, including the College’s emergency alert system through email, telephone, text and SCF.edu for updates.

May 19, 2021 Update: Before we share the below updates, we want to thank our students, faculty and staff for continuing to demonstrate what it means to be #SCFProud.

Moving Forward:

  • SCF continues to require students, faculty and staff to practice social distancing on its campuses.
  • Masks are recommended on campus while inside when proper social distancing cannot be practiced, for individuals not fully vaccinated or if preferred by the individual.
  • Masks are optional when outside and socially distanced.
  • SCF campuses are open to students, faculty, staff and their immediate family, those essential to college operations, and guests with the approval of supervisors.
  • On-campus SCF events and activities are open with limited seating. Please refer to the schedule, RSVP and attendance requirements of each event as it will vary based on location.
  • SCF campuses are taking into consideration the recommended COVID-19 safety guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Florida Department of Health and the Florida Department of Education.
  • SCF continues to maintain diligent cleaning efforts and sanitizer is available across all campuses.

Effective July 1:

  • SCF faculty and staff can resume travel, both in district and out of district.

SCF will continue to evaluate and share announcements regarding Summer B and the Fall term later in the semester.

January 11, 2021 Update (italicized text added April 16, 2021): Our SCF family has done a fantastic job of adapting to the necessary safety precautions. As a result, we will be expanding attendance at our performing arts and athletic events to include students, faculty, staff and their immediate family. Information and invitations to attend will be posted online and sent via email.

The personal safety of students, faculty and staff is our top priority, therefore the precautions we have taken since returning to campus last fall remain in place. SCF continues to require students, faculty, staff and permitted visitors to wear face coverings on campus and our campuses remain closed to the public until further notice.

December 17 Update: As we look back on this particular fall semester and year, one thing will never change: we are grateful for all your hard work and dedication and hope you all enjoy some well-deserved time off. Please take the opportunity to rest, reflect and recharge, especially during socially distanced celebrations.

While preparing for the new year, please note the following important information:

Winter Break: SCF is closed for Winter Break starting Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, and will reopen Monday, Jan. 4, 2021.

Spring 2021 Enrollment: Spring semester begins on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, and registration for classes is open at MY.SCF.edu or through the SCF Mobile app. SCF gives students the opportunity to pursue a degree at their own pace with courses offered on campus, online or through Go Live with SCF Online.

December 2 Update: We hope everyone had the opportunity to enjoy some time off. As we diligently work toward the end of the semester, here is key information to keep in mind:

Manatees Get Degrees: Our Winter 2020 drive-through graduation ceremony will be held Friday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. Participants must RSVP by Friday, Dec. 4. Don’t forget to call our dedicated graduation hotline at
941-752-5330 in advance to leave congratulatory messages!

Spring 2021 Enrollment: Registration is open for Spring 2021 classes at MY.SCF.edu or through the SCF Mobile app.

November 24 Update: As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, we are grateful for the opportunity to enjoy some time off away from campus and our coursework. And we look forward to hearing the creative ways our college community has celebrated in consideration of the recommended safety precautions.

As you return to campus, please take the below preventative actions and adhere to the common guidelines as they relate to any illness or the coronavirus.

October 15 Update: As we continue our Fall 2020 semester, we would like to share the following reminders:

  • SCF continues to require students, faculty, staff and permitted visitors to wear face coverings on campus including, but not limited to, classrooms, conference rooms, shared work spaces, academic and administrative buildings, lobbies and lounge areas, student unions, performance spaces, retail spaces, libraries and dining facilities.
  • There are no classes or labs prior to 4 p.m. on this Friday, October 16 in observance of All College Day.
  • SCF campuses are open to students, prospective students, and their families as well as contractors, vendors and business partners essential to SCF operations.
  • SCF campuses remain closed to visitors and the public until further notice.
  • SCF has resumed our regular hours of operations with the following exceptions:
    • The Library & Learning Center on the Bradenton campus will be closing at 2:00 p.m. every Friday for the remainder of the semester.
    • The Learning Commons on the Lakewood Ranch campus will be closing at 4:30 p.m. every Wednesday for the remainder of the semester.
  • All on-campus SCF events and activities are cancelled or will be conducted virtually.

August 13 Update: As we prepare for our Fall 2020 semester beginning Monday, August 17, we would like to share the following updates:

  • SCF requires students, faculty, staff and permitted visitors to wear face coverings on campus including, but not limited to, classrooms, conference rooms, shared work spaces, academic and administrative buildings, lobbies and lounge areas, student unions, performance spaces, retail spaces, libraries and dining facilities.
  • SCF campuses will be open to students, prospective students, and their families as well as contractors, vendors and business partners essential to SCF operations. Our campuses remain closed to visitors and the public until further notice.
  • SCF is resuming regular hours of operations, including the Libraries, Resource Centers and Student Services.
  • All on-campus SCF events and activities are cancelled or will be conducted virtually.
  • Frequently Asked Questions and COVID-19 Decision Tree documents are available below. These references help employees and students to answer questions such as, what if I am sick? and what is SCF’s plan to keep me safe?
  • A COVID-19 Student Code of Conduct Addendum has been posted for students to review.
  • A COVID-19 reporting form has also been added below. This allows SCF students, faculty and staff to report a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, suspected positive diagnosis, self-isolation requirements because of a direct exposure or presumed exposure.

SCF Return to Campus Guidelines

June 19 Update:  SCF Return to Campus Taskforce Recommendations.

June 11 Update: We continue to prepare for phase three of our Return to Campus plan that includes welcoming back students, faculty and staff on our campuses for our Summer B term and Fall semester per the current recommendations of the CDC, DOH, local and state officials.  Early next week, we will distribute our plan that communicates the many safeguards we are taking for your return and identifies resources and reference materials to help our College community during this ongoing transition. 

May 7 Update:  At SCF, we continue to take every precaution for the wellbeing and safety of all our students, faculty and staff in alignment with the recommendations of the CDC, DOH, and local and state authorities. With the expiration of the “Stay at Home” order, SCF will be reopening our campuses using a slow and gradual, phased approach that is flexible and sensitive to the needs of our College community. 

April 10 Update: On Friday, May 1, we will honor our Spring 2020 graduates with a virtual ceremony from 3-5 p.m., to be broadcast on Sarasota Community Radio WSLR, 96.5 FM and streamed live on the College’s Facebook page, facebook.com/StateCollegeOfFlorida. This will be a unique way of celebrating this milestone in our students’ journey and will include some traditional graduation ceremony elements and many that are not. Please monitor your SCF email and SCF's social media channels for more on this unique celebration.  View the announcement, May 1 SCF Spring 2020 Virtual Graduation Ceremony Announcement

March 20, 2020 Update: As we all adjust to this new and temporary environment, we wanted to reflect on how proud we are of our students, faculty and staff. Thank you to our resilient students who continue to exemplify what it is to be #SCFProud. You lead by example and demonstrate how grit and determination not only earns you a degree but carries you through the most trying situations. Our sincere gratitude to our faculty and staff who operationalized our institution to function virtually and transition to a 97% online learning environment within a week’s time. Your dedication to our students and their success is what makes SCF our community’s beloved state college and fulfills our vision to be the region’s first choice. Our team will continue to meet regularly to assess and communicate recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Florida Department of Health (DOH), the Florida Department of Education (DOE), the Florida College System (FCS) and other local authorities. In the interim, please practice social distancing, be well and know that we are here to support you.

March 17, 2020 Update: Our team continues to meet regularly to assess and communicate recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Florida Department of Health (DOH), the Florida Department of Education (DOE), the Florida College System (FCS) and other local authorities. Ongoing discussions regarding faculty and staff telecommuting, online instruction beyond April 3 and College events continue in the event we need to implement additional plans.

March 16, 2020 Update: We continue to prepare for the transition to an Online Learning environment, to the extent possible, effective Thursday, March 19, 2020.  Please note ALL SCF Campuses are closed to students and the public today through Wednesday, March 18.  Only faculty and staff should be on campus to help us prepare for this transition. 

March 13, 2020 Update: For the wellbeing and safety of all our faculty, staff and students as well as our community, SCF will transition to an Online Learning environment, to the extent possible, effective Thursday, March 19, 2020.

March 11, 2020 Update: Out of an abundance of caution, and for the safety of our students, faculty and staff, we wanted to share that an individual has been excluded from College activities in accordance with the Department of Health (DOH) recommendations. Due to their possible contact with a person or items handled by a person who has since tested positive for COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the individual is self-isolating for 14 days. It is important to note that the individual is currently well.  For the safety and privacy of our students, faculty and staff, SCF will not be disclosing any additional information.
