Outstanding Graduate Award

The Outstanding Graduate Award is now a Faculty and Staff Nominated Award.  Faculty and Staff will be asked to nominate an eligible student.  Once an nomination is submitted, the student who has been nominated will be asked to complete an application.

Who is eligible to apply for the Outstanding Graduate Award?

Be eligible to graduate with their Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.), Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.), Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.), or Bachelor of Science (B.S.).  The Fall OGA Award is open to those who graduated in the Summer and those who are graduating in the Fall.  The Spring OGA Award is only open to those graduating in the Spring.

  1. Have applied for graduation by the posted deadline.
  2. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the time of application. 

What will the Outstanding Graduate Award recipient receive?

The Outstanding Graduate Award recipient is recognized at graduation and will receive a monetary award of $1,500 provided by the State College of Florida Foundation, Inc.

Be recognized at the graduation ceremony and seated on stage.

If I am nominated, how do I apply?

The application will be sent to you directly from the Coordinator of Student Life.

You will be asked to provide short answers to the following questions within the application:

  1. Which individual accomplishment at SCF are you most proud of and why?
  2. What advice would you share with new students to help them be successful at SCF?
  3. How has SCF made a difference in your life?
  4. What are your plans after graduating from SCF?

RESUME:  Provide a PDF of your résumé listing all relevant curricular, co-curricular, and community-service activities. For résumé assistance, visit the SCF Career Resource Center.

RECOMMENDATIONS:  The Outstanding Graduate Award requires two (2) letters of recommendation.   One (1) recommendation must be from a faculty member (baccalaureate students must use an upper lever faulty member) and one (1) recommendation may come from a person of your choice. 

TRANSCRIPT:  Provide a PDF of your unofficial SCF Transcript from MySCF to your application.

NOTE:  Incomplete applications will not be reviewed by the committee. 

How will the Outstanding Graduate Award finalists be selected?

All applications and materials will be distributed to a selection committee. The selection committee will evaluate the applications and materials to determine who will be selected as the Outstanding Graduate Award finalists.

When will the Outstanding Graduate Award finalists be selected?

The selection committee will choose the Outstanding Graduate and finalists mid-semester.  Applicants can expect to be notified of their finalist status a month before graduation. 

What is expected of me if I am selected as one of the Outstanding Graduate Award finalists?

The Outstanding Graduate Award recipient and finalists are expected to:

Submit the Graduation Attendance Form online to guarantee participation.

Attend and be seated on stage at the graduation ceremony

Provide a brief biography to SCF Communications & Marketing to be used for a press release and inclusion in the graduation program. 

Have picture taken by SCF Communications & Marketing.
