Counseling Services 

The Dean of Students Office offers Counseling Services to students to support their mental well-being. SCF offers counseling appointments, a 24/7 Counseling & Support Line, and options to speak to the Campus Ministry.

Most family health and/or property insurance plans limit or exclude coverage once children reach 20 to 24 years of age. The following links provide information regarding insurance products for college students. Each company is independent, thus the requirements, fees, and coverage options may be specific to that provider's policy. Please contact the individual provider directly for additional detailed information.

Homeless Student Information

This information is provided as a resource for students facing homelessness or lacking adequate adult supervision to pursue a college education, and does not reflect the endorsement of any company, provider or product by State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota.

Over one million young people in the United States currently face homelessness, and many do not have an adult in the picture to provide guidance or assistance when it comes time to think about higher education. The federal government defines these unaccompanied homeless youth (UHY) as individuals who do not have “fixed, regular and adequate” housing and who are “not in the physical custody of a parent or adult.” Many of these youth have aspirations to attend college, yet lack the support and awareness of resources needed to move their dreams into reality.
