Transition Nursing Program
The Transition Nursing Program is specifically designed for the qualified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who demonstrates current knowledge and skills so that advanced standing may be attained without unnecessary duplication of course content and experiences.
Program Application Requirements (Prerequisites)
A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better in the following prerequisite courses and successful completion of the Nurse Entrance Exam is required to make an application to the Nursing Program:

Applications for the Fall 2011 nursing transition program will be accepted: May 1 through June 15, 2011.

Note: Nursing applications can take up to 30 days to process, please plan accordingly.
Continue to take the additional general academic requirements for the Nursing program. Admission priority is given to qualified program applicants who have completed all program entrance requirements (prerequisites), the most general academic requirements, and have achieved the highest cumulative and overall GPA in these classes. Testing results may also be used in the admission process.
The Associate in Science Degree, Nursing is a limited enrollment program. Completion of all or part of the academic courses required for the degree does not guarantee acceptance into the program.

Students must have an overall and cumulative 2.75 GPA in the prerequisites and additional general academic requirements to remain eligible for the nursing program.
Additional Transition Program Entrance Requirements

- Current Florida license as a Practical Nurse
- A letter from your employer, on company letter head, indicating 6 months of full-time employment as a LPN during the last 3 years OR Graduation from a Practical Nursing Program within 3 years of starting the transition nursing program (provide information on application).
- An Official transcript from the Practical Nursing Program submitted directly to the SCF Educational Records.

** The LPN transition student is awarded an additional 14 credit hours upon successful completion of the Nursing program.

who are not admitted to a specific semester will have the opportunity to submit a new application for another admission period.
