Bradenton, Fla. Oct. 11, 2023

(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 11, 2023) — The Music Program at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will present the below performances Oct. 12 and Oct. 16. Tickets for each show can be purchased online at SCF.edu/Neel or by calling 941-752-5252. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $5 for SCF students and staff.

“To Infinity” — Thursday, Oct. 12, 7:30 p.m., SCF Neel Performing Arts Center, Building 11 East

The number 8 represents, among many things, infinity. The infinity symbol, a figure eight on its side, signifies the concept of limitlessness or eternity, especially as used notationally in mathematics and metaphorically with respect to love. Music is also an art form that is considered limitless. The Bradenton Symphony Orchestra, which includes both SCF students and community members, will perform the following:

  • “Petite Suite” by Samual Coleridge-Taylor
  • “Piano Sonata No. 8 (II. Adagio cantabile)” by Ludwig van Beethoven (arr. by Joshua Cloe)
  • “Adoration” (for Small Orchestra) by Florence Price
  • “Symphony No. 8” by Ludwig van Beethoven, which is the continuation in the series of Beethoven’s Nine Symphonies.

“Community Piano Recital” — Thursday, Oct. 16, 7:30 p.m., SCF Studio for the Performing Arts, Recital Hall

We welcome students of all experience levels and ages to perform in this community-based recital, which will be presented free to the public. This popular recital is your chance to hear what is going on with the talented students in your own community.
