Information
Disability Resource Center Information is broken into three major categories:
- disability
- legal
- empowerment
- success
Disability Information provides definitions of disabilities, documentation and guidelines and lists potential or commonly provided accommodations for the various categories of disabilities (while recognizing the complexity and uniqueness of each person's functional limitations and access preferences). It addresses such issues as: Who is a disabled individual? What is a reasonable accommodation? What are the rights and responsibilities of the institution, the faculty, and the disabled Individual? How are the disabled individuals rights to access balanced with legitimate and rational requirements/standards of a program? How and why are the equal access mandates (ADA) and service provisions in postsecondary institutions different from the etitlement provisions of the Individuals with a Disability Act (IDEA) and services provided in secondary schools?
Legal information provides an overview of The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and The Rehabilitation Act of 1977.
Empowerment and success provides information, training and resources that assist in the development and empowerment of disabled individuals.
Resources
