Celebrate With the SCF Foundation at Evening Under the Stars in Venice

(Bradenton, Fla., March 17, 2022) — The State College of Florida (SCF) Foundation will host “Come Sail Away,” a fun-filled family gathering with live music, food and fireworks at the 34th annual Evening Under the Stars, Saturday, April 9, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. General lawn admission is $30 in advance or $35 at the gate. Children under 10 are free. VIP tickets with a catered dinner and bar from Fins at Sharkey’s are available for $150 until March 30. Tickets can be purchased online at SCF-Foundation.org/EUS or by calling 941-752-5390.

The Pops Orchestra, SCF Big Band and Chamber Choir will provide a rousing evening of popular cruising music, including hits by the Beatles, Beach Boys and Sheryl Crow. A fabulous fireworks finale will conclude the event. Proceeds will benefit the SCF Foundation to support scholarships, enhanced academic programming and capital improvements at the college.

The Pops Orchestra will be joined by world renowned trumpet soloist Ron Romm. Romm has played thousands of performances around the world, including three decades with Canadian Brass, one of the most renowned brass ensembles ever assembled. Romm has performed live and recorded CDs with leading artists including Wynton Marsalis, Arturo Sandoval, Jon Faddis, Doc Severinsen, and brass performers from the Boston Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, and Bayreuth Festival Orchestra. Evening Under the Stars is an open-air outdoor event, with socially distanced seating, hand sanitizer and masks freely available. SCF has taken strong preventative measures against COVID-19, including increased cleaning on each campus.
