SCF’s ASN Program Ranked Top Five in Florida

Bradenton, Fla. Nov. 22, 2022

(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 22, 2022) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) Associate in Science in nursing (ASN) program has been ranked number four by RegisteredNursing.org on their list of “Best RN Programs in Florida” entering 2023. The organization analyzed 150 nursing programs statewide.

RegisteredNursing.org offers education and employment resources for current and prospective nurses. The organization uses a rigorous ranking methodology to assess nursing programs on factors including accreditation, graduation rates, cost of attendance, and how well a program supports students toward licensure and professional success.

“Training workforce-ready nurses is one of SCF’s greatest legacies from 65 years serving Manatee and Sarasota counties,” said Dr. Tammy Sawmelle, dean of nursing at SCF. “Thanks to the generosity of our SCF Foundation sponsors and the hard work of our faculty and staff, we are making high quality, affordable nursing education available to more prospective nurses in our community than ever before.”

In 2021, SCF’s nursing graduates successfully passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) at a rate more than 10% higher than the national average and nearly 30% higher than the state average for Florida. The NCLEX-RN exam is used by all nursing state boards in the United States to assess a student’s competency.
