SCF Expands STEM Camps in Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch

(Bradenton, Fla., March 7, 2023) — The SCF Coding Academy at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota is offering in-person STEM camps for elementary students this spring, and elementary, middle school, and high school students this summer. The fun and affordable camps will feature a variety of STEM-related subjects taught in age-appropriate formats, with a focus on coding, virtual reality, cybersecurity, drones and robotics. New for 2023, the “Makers and Hackers” spring break camp is March 13-17, 9 a.m.-3p.m., at SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Pkwy., Sarasota. Campers will focus on robotics, Minecraft for Jr. Engineers and hands-on science experiments for elementary school students. Registration is $299. Before and after care for families needing an earlier drop-off time or a later pickup time is available for an additional fee.

“STEM-tastic Summer Camp” will run weekly from June 12-July 28. The elementary camp will be half-day, 8 a.m.-noon at SCF Lakewood Ranch. Middle and high school students will program and fly drones, create virtual worlds and enjoy cybersecurity sleuthing at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., in the 26 West Center, SCF’s Center for Advanced Technology and Innovation. Middle and high school camps will take place 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Summer camp activities vary each week providing students with different themed-based topics. Middle and high school campers will also participate in “Made in Florida” field trips to local manufacturing facilities. SCF Lakewood Ranch is home base for elementary campers with half-day and full-day camp options starting at $175 per week. SCF Bradenton hosts middle and high school campers, with before and after care options available, starting at $299 per week.

With an emphasis on hands-on learning and cutting-edge technology, SCF’s Coding Academy STEM camps provide an opportunity for students to explore and develop their interests in STEM. Experienced instructors and a dynamic curriculum will ensure that students are challenged and inspired every day.
