What to expect:

A morning of weather science, hands-on activities and family fun is headed to SCF Venice!

Bring your family and friends to SCF Weather Ready from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 26. Held in celebration of the unveiling of SCF Venice’s new professional-grade weather station, this free, community-friendly event will offer activities and experiences for curious minds of all ages.

Explore weather technology and tour our Science Department. You can also enjoy:

• A demonstration of the new weather monitoring system.
• Hands-on weather and STEM activities.
• Family-friendly activities.
• Special guest speakers, featured community partners and more.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. with a special presentation and the official unveiling of the new Weather Station, featuring:

• SCF President Tommy Gregory
• Venice Gondolier’s Brad Robertson
• ABC7 WWSB Meteorologist Ric Kearbey
• Demonstration of the new weather monitoring system
• STEM activities and tours of SCF Venice’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Math departments
• Kids’ activities including face painting, weather-themed coloring pages and fire truck demonstrations
• Fun photos with Maverick the Manatee and weather accessories
• Enjoy local vendors including Anna Maria Oyster Bar, The Lemonade Express and Dockside Waterfront Grill

Other community partners include:

• Sarasota County Emergency Services
• Sarasota County Fire Department
• Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast
• Student Veterans of America
