The sea turtle conservation and research program (STCRP) at Mote Marine Laboratory has been monitoring the nesting beaches in Sarasota and Manatee counties since 1982. Sea turtle nesting numbers have seen record growth primarily due to conservation efforts and citizen science. STCRP tags sea turtles at night to learn more about individual behavior and how it impacts their populations. Research projects are aided by students annually and we will talk about some of the most recent projects and other STCRP projects.
