(Bradenton, Fla., May 19, 2025) — Four State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota employees have been named 2025 Excellence Award winners by the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD). The faculty and staff members were nominated by their peers for exemplifying outstanding commitment, talent, teaching and service at SCF.

SCF award winners are Miguel Benitez, Ph.D., assistant professor, humanities; Patricia Lakey, coordinator, Disability Resource Center; Rene Massengale, Ph.D., manager, Tutoring and Academic Success Center; and Angelique Medvesky, Ph.D., professor, English composition. They are invited to attend NISOD’s International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence awards celebration and dinner in Austin, Texas.

NISOD started the Excellence Awards program in 1978 to recognize exemplary faculty, staff and administrators from community and technical colleges across the U.S. This year’s SCF group shared a common sense of pride working for the college and providing student-centered education, service and support.

“I am extremely grateful to work with such a supportive group of colleagues who share in the SCF mission of excellence towards student success,” said Dr. Medvesky.

Lakey said, “I want to thank my SCF colleagues for their continued support as we work together to provide the best possible services, education and growth opportunities for our students.”
