SCF Promotes an Assistant Dean to a Full-time Dean

BRADENTON, FL (September 18, 2025)—State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota has promoted Kimberly Bastin, Ed.D., to dean, academic affairs. She oversees the departments of health professions, business and technology, criminal justice, fire science and paralegal/legal assisting. Bastin previously served as the assistant dean of health professions and wellness and a professor of dental hygiene at SCF.

Bastin has over two decades of experience in dental education and academic leadership. She demonstrates a deep commitment to student success, program development and inter-departmental collaboration. Her new role includes faculty/staff management, budget oversight, curriculum development and strategic enrollment initiatives.

Excited about her new position, Bastin shared, “I most look forward to learning more about the diverse academic areas across campuses, fostering partnerships that support SCF students in achieving their graduation goals and transforming students’ futures.”

Bastin holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands and multiple degrees in dental hygiene and education from the University of Southern Indiana.
