Two SCF Manatees Baseball Alumni’s MLB Teams are Playing in the World Series

Bradenton, Fla. Oct. 23, 2025

BRADENTON, FL (Oct. 23, 2025)—Brendon Little and Justin Wrobleski, former pitchers at State College of Florida, Manatee, now play for the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers MLB teams, respectively, which are headed to the 2025 World Series. Game one is on Friday, Oct. 24, at 8 p.m.

The Blue Jays clinched the American League Championship Series with a game seven win against the Seattle Mariners on Oct. 20, advancing to their third World Series since their back-to-back 1992 and 1993 World Series titles against the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies, respectively. The Dodgers clinched the National League Championship Series with a game four sweep against the Milwaukee Brewers on Oct. 16, advancing to their 23rd World Series and defending their 2024 World Series title against the New York Yankees.

Little and Wrobleski are left-handed pitchers. They played against each other in a regular-season game in August, noted Tim Hill II, head baseball coach at SCF.

“We are very proud of both these guys,” said Hill. “They represent how SCF can help students accomplish their dreams. It is super exciting for SCF to have two alumni facing each other in the World Series!”

Little is 29 years old and a Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania native. He transferred to SCF in the 2016-17 season from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he pitched four innings as a freshman, Hill said. At SCF, Little developed his skills under Donnie Robinson, an SCF pitching coach and former 15-year MLB pitcher. Little was a 4.0 GPA student and an NJCAA Academic All-American player. After a strong 2017 spring season, he was selected as the 27th overall pick in round one of the 2017 MLB draft by the Chicago Cubs.

“You could always tell there was something different about Brendon,” Hill said. “He was very driven and focused and wanted to be the best at everything he did. He had a lot of talent. Experts said he arguably had the best curveball in the 2017 MLB Draft.”

Wrobleski is 25 years old and a Hoffman Estates, Illinois native. He transferred to SCF for the 2019–20 season from Clemson University, where his spring season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At SCF, he overcame a jaw injury that required his mouth to be wired shut and later underwent Tommy John surgery while at Oklahoma State University. Despite these setbacks, he emerged as one of SCF’s top pitchers and earned a scholarship to Oklahoma State.

“I believe the things Justin has gone through helped prepare him to be an MLB player,” said Hill. “He was very confident. He was another hard worker who used our program to get to the next level.”
