State College of Florida Students Study History Abroad in France and Switzerland

BRADENTON, Fla. (August 20, 2026) — A group of 30 students fromState College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) expanded their studies beyond the classroom during a summer 2026 study-abroad trip to France, Switzerland and the Riviera in June.
Led by Michael Rogers, professor of American history and political science at SCF Venice, students explored the region’s history and culture through guided tours and excursions to historic sites, museums and cultural landmarks. Rogers has led SCF’s summer study-abroad trip in Europe since 2016.
“This trip changed the way I see the world,” said SCF study-abroad student Brianna Mortenson. “It left me with a deeper meaning of what history and culture are and a journey that I will cherish forever.”
The group visited the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral and Olympic Museum. Students also learned about European art, history and cultural traditions through experiences including Gruyère AOP cheesemaking and perfume manufacturing.
SCF also offers an optional European study-abroad class in the summer semester.
