The A.S. Nursing Basic program at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota is a limited enrollment program. Completion of all or part of the academic courses required for the degree does not guarantee acceptance to the Nursing program. The program does not utilize a wait list. Students must apply/reapply during a nursing application period. If there are more qualified applicants than seats in the program, the policy and procedure on admission requirements and selection process will be followed. The following list of information and instructions has been provided to assist students in the application process to the A.S. Nursing Basic program. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that each step mentioned below is completed by the application deadline and that all information provided during the application process is accurate.
Important Information About Communications from SCF. All communication from SCF to nursing program applicants will be done through your SCF student email account. Please make sure your SCF student email account is active! Monitor your SCF student email account so that you do not miss any pertinent information regarding your application status. Not a current SCF student?
You will need to apply for admission to SCF before submitting the Basic Nursing program application. Complete all steps required for admission to the college as a degree seeking student.

If three or more consecutive semesters have passed since enrollment at SCF, student must reapply to the college. Order official transcripts early! It takes 3-6 weeks for transcripts to arrive and be evaluated. This process must be complete by the nursing application deadline.
The four prerequisite courses must be completed, with grades posted, by the application deadline, AND applicants must meet GPA requirements.
Earned GPA of 2.75 or better in all pre-nursing coursework (prerequisites and general academic requirements combined).

ATI TEAS Exam (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is a nursing entrance exam and is an admission requirement that must be met before applying to SCF’s A.S. Nursing Program.
SCF offers TEAS testing for SCF students only.

TEAS exam dates are limited at the SCF testing centers. Testing seats are also limited so register early.

What are the sections on the TEAS, what skills will be assessed and how much time is allowed on each section of the TEAS?
The test is taken on a computer. The questions are generally multiple choice style with four options. Each test section consists of several pages with roughly five questions per page. When you have answered the questions, select the “Next” button in the lower part of the screen to move to additional questions. You can review previous pages, but once you move to a new subject (example-from reading to math), you cannot return.

The TEAS is offered at SCF’s Bradenton and Venice campus Assessment/Testing centers for SCF students only.

To take the TEAS at SCF, follow these steps:
Students may take the TEAS at another institution and have their official TEAS transcripts sent directly to SCF’s Assessment and Testing Center. Visit www.atitesting.com to place your order. TEAS transcripts must be received by SCF by the TEAS deadlines.
IMPORTANT TESTING RULES:
You may apply to the nursing program during an open nursing application period if all other application requirements are met. TEAS scores must be on file at SCF by the TEAS deadline.
I was unsuccessful with the TEAS. What is the next step? Students have three (3) attempts to test into or exceed the Proficient level within one calendar year. There is a mandatory thirty (30) day waiting period between each attempt.
What if I took the TEAS at another location? Can I submit that exam? As long as your TEAS exam meets our program’s requirements, you can purchase your official TEAS transcript from ATI and have it sent to the Assessment & Testing Center by the TEAS deadline for the application period in which you plan to apply.
