SCF Corporate & Community Development has teamed up with Microsoft to bring you innovative computer training programs for adults. 

This fun, new series is based on extensive research about how less tech-savvy adult computer users want to learn new computer skills. 

The curriculum and teaching method was first tested on Holland America ships with more than 100,000 adult learners, with 91% repeat students and often standing-room only classes.

It’s easier than you have ever imagined. If you can click a mouse, you can edit a digital photo, turn your photos into a movie that tells a story, and use a webcam to stay in touch with loved ones. All workshops use  free Windows^®-based tools from Microsoft that you can download later at home.

Buying a new PC can be confusing and fustrating, but it doesnt have to be! Learn what all that jargonmeans, what type of PC best fits your needs and how to pick the right PC without breaking your budget. (1 Hr)

 

Start Here with Windows 7 
Get hands-on with Windows 7! Learn about instant search, jump lists and pinning, snap, shake and peek, using the snipping tool, and desktop gadgets. (1 Hr)

 

Stay Safe with Windows 7
Learn how to protect your computer from malicious software, use safe email practicess, keep your computer current with the latest security and software updates, and set-up automatic backups for your important personal data. (1 Hr)

My PC: Getting Started with Windows 7 Workshop

All the fun things and no tech babble. Learn quick tips for getting around, where to put your stuff and how to find it easily, smarter ways to surf and shop online, sharing photos, personalizing your PC and more.  If you’ve ever thought computer classes were too boring or technical, this is the class for you.   (This class to be taken first - prior to the classes listed below.)   Requirements for this class:  Must have basic computer skills: using Windows 7, a mouse and keyboard.  If you need to gain basic computer skills, Click Here for our Beginner Computer classes.)   (3 hours)   Fee:  $39

My PC: Creative Photo Slideshows Workshop

Turn your digital photos and videos into a fun movie slideshow! Learn easy ways to create movies with your photos by adding transitions, motion effects, titles, credits and music. Burn a DVD to play on your TV or computer, or share with family. Requirements for this class:  "My PC:  Getting Started with Windows 7" class, or intermediate experience using Windows 7.  (3 hours)  Fee:  $39
