SCF Music Professor’s RADIOjazzHEAD Orchestra to Headline Local Festival

Bradenton, Fla. Feb. 7, 2022

(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 7, 2022) — Pete Carney, associate professor of music at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), and his RADIOjazzHEAD Orchestra will headline the St. Petersburg Jazz Festival on Friday, Feb. 25, at the Palladium Theater. SCF jazz vocalist student Savannah Brady will join Carney’s 15-piece orchestra for a performance that explores the fusion of ‘90s rock and jazz, with vocals dedicated to Radiohead and other rock icons of the same era.

Last summer, Carney presented a guest lecture and performance on Radiohead’s borrowed jazz for the Jazz St. Louis Foundation. Carney conducted, played and wrote several compositions which were performed in collaboration with musicians from the St. Louis Symphony. The St. Petersburg Jazz Festival will be the group’s first Florida performance.

Carney has previously lectured on jazz, classical and Radiohead as part of SCF’s Faculty Lecture Series.
