SCF Board of Trustees Report: Oct. 4, 2022

(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 4, 2022) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) District Board of Trustees (BOT) held its regular monthly meeting virtually and in-person with essential staff and trustees on Oct. 4.

The board elected:

  • Dominic DiMaio as its chair and
  • Rod Thomson as the vice chair.

The board heard presentations from:

  • Todd G. Fritch, executive vice president and provost; Brittany Nielsen, vice president of student services and enrollment management; Chris Wellman, associate vice president of facilities management; and Shawn Patten, director of public safety and emergency management on SCF’s recovery efforts following Hurricane Ian.
  • Nielsen on the Fall 2022 student profile.
  • Kathy Hebda, Florida College System chancellor at the Florida Department of Education offering support to SCF and praise of SCF’s leadership for their response to Hurricane Ian.
  • Steve Prouty, general counsel, on pending rule revisions to be acted upon by the BOT in December.

The board approved:

  • Nonfinancial and financial consent agenda items.
  • A contract in the amount of $5,054,376.48 with Tandem Construction to construct a new science building at SCF Venice.
  • A contract in the amount of $787,121 with Johnson Controls to replace fire alarm panels at SCF Bradenton and SCF Venice.
  • A $250,000 project to build out a six-person office suite in the 26 West Center, which will be occupied by the Bradenton Area Economic Development Corporation (EDC).
  • A contract in the amount of $78,781.50 with Contract Furniture to purchase and install the movable wall system for the Bradenton EDC office suite in the 26 West Center.
  • President Probstfeld’s 2021-22 completed goals.

The next board meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. on October 25, 2022, at SCF Bradenton.
