SCF Music Schedule for April and May 2023

(Bradenton, Fla., March 21, 2023) — The Music Program atState College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will present the following performances April 6-May 1 at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., Bradenton. Tickets for each performance are available online at SCF.edu/Neel or by calling 941-752-5252. The cost is $15 for general admission and $5 for SCF students and staff unless otherwise noted.

“Old Blue Eyes is Back” — Thursday, April 6, 7:30 p.m., SCF Neel Performing Arts Center

Fly from New York to Las Vegas in this rowdy tribute to Frank Sinatra and the rate pack of crooners. SCF Jazz welcomes amazing vocalist Scotty Wright for a concert of big band classics. Wright has demonstrated his soaring jazz vocals from Bangkok to Los Angeles. From “Fly Me to the Moon” to Beyond the Sea,” this concert serves as a showcase of the great American songbook.

“Youthful Inspirations” — Thursday, April 13, 7:30 p.m., Studio for the Performing Arts Recital Hall

Enjoy the unique compositions of SCF student composers. The works performed at this concert were prepared in SCF’s music composition course. The experience of hearing the work of these precocious composers will be enhanced by the intimate setting of the SCF’s newest recital hall.

“Murder, Mystery, and Mayhem — Music Theatre Showcase”  Monday, April 17, 7:30 p.m., SCF Neel Performing Arts Center

The Music Theatre Ensemble presents a showcase of music theatre songs and scenes from musicals which have murder, mystery, and mayhem as their theme. From dramatic moments to those with a touch of dark comedy, the students in the Music Theatre Ensemble shine in a variety of small group and large ensemble numbers.

“High Voltage” – Thursday, April 20, 7:30 p.m., SCF Neel Performing Arts Center

Step on our amplifier cables and be shocked by the blast of electric guitars and the SCF Bradenton Symphony Orchestra with new music commissioned for this unique and daring concert.

“Spring Piano Recital” – Monday, April 24, 7 p.m., Studio for the Performing Arts Recital Hall

Piano students ranging from beginner to advanced levels perform the pieces they have spent the semester preparing. Both traditional students and lifelong learners will deliver performances highlighting their growth on the keyboard. SCF’s keyboard faculty proudly teach students who plan to pursue higher level music degrees and those who study piano for their own enjoyment and personal development.

“Sunset Serenade” – Thursday, April 27, 7:30 p.m., SCF Neel Performing Arts Center

Join the SCF Symphonic Band, Jazz Big Band, Jazz Combo, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and Guitar Ensemble in the grand finale as they bid adieu to another fantastic year of music making.

“Graduation Recital” – Monday, May 1, 7:30 p.m., Studio for the Performing Arts Recital Hall

Graduating SCF Music students perform their top pieces in this swan song collaboration. These students have blossomed throughout their time at SCF and are ready to take on new and wider challenges. This free annual concert is an opportunity for students to cement their legacy while setting the bar for future music students who will follow in their footsteps.
