MCC fine art gallery calendar 2008-09
PRINTCOLLECTION2
Printcollection2, the second exhibition of the College’s recently restored prints, features work by Salvador Dali, Francisco Goya, Kathe Kollwitz, Edvard Munch, Roberto Matta, Nobuo Satoh and many more. After the exhibition, the prints will be displayed on campus and available for study through the Fine Art Gallery.

Linda Molto
THE MAGIC BUS MOVED TO WIMAUMA
Oct 3 – Nov 6
On display will be 28 serigraphic prints of Florida “slice-of-life” images by award-winning, Cortez Village artist, Linda Molto, recently purchased by MCC for its permanent collection. After the exhibition, Molto’s prints will be displayed on campus.

PROJECT 4 X 6(a WCA member’s exhibition) showcases, in myriad ways, what artists are capable of creating within the limited format of a 4” x 6” canvas. The exhibition will be juried by Mark Anderson B.F.A.,
M.F.A., Ringling College of Art and Design - Interim Department Headwho will award Prizes for First, Second, and Third place and three Merit Awards.
Opening Reception: Friday, February 27, 2009, 6 – 8 pm

Oldrich Kulhanek
FUNNY MONEY
Apr 10 – May 21
Born in Prague, Czechoslovakia. Perhaps the most visible artist in the Czech Republic.
He is the designer of all of the currency in circulation, President of the State Jury
of postage stamp design and President of the foundation of Hollar, the Society of
Czech Graphic Artists. The Fine Art Gallery will feature Kulhanek’s Funny Money suite,
acquired by the College in 2008 -- and the only complete set in the United States.

THE BLACK FLAG ON THE MOON
May 29 – Sep 24
The Black Flag on the Moon celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Apollo11 Moon landing in 1969 and honors the contribution of Bradenton resident, Dolores Black (maker of the flag on the Moon). The exhibition will feature artistic interpretations of the American flag as both peace dove and harbinger of war and within the context of a limited-edition print portfolio entitled: The Black Flag on the Moon. Apollo-era memorabilia will accompany the exhibition.

Gallery Talk: Guest Lecturer, Donn Roll, will discuss prints and printmaking from 6:30 – 7:30 PM. Roll teaches at Manatee Community College and serves as an Adult Program Coordinator at the Ringling Museum where he continues to lecture. In addition, Roll has lectured extensively throughout the state on a variety of topics and has served as a juror for numerous exhibitions and art festivals.
