Exiting Employment
State College of Florida employees who are separating their employment from the college may find these resources helpful when making this transition:
Resignation Notice: Proper resignation notice should be given to your supervisor according to your employee class (Career employees need to give at least a two week notice and Professional and above employees need to give at least a four week notice). If proper notice is not received, your vacation leave payout may be affected. Please see the Vacation Leave Rule for more information on how your leave payout is affected.
Exit Interview: Upon receipt of the employee's resignation/retirement notice, the Human Resources department will schedule two meetings, an exit interview and benefits exit review with a member of the Human Resources department.
Leave Payouts: Provided the employee gives proper resignation notice, employees will be paid out the balance of their vacation leave to a maximum according to their employee class (Career/Professional: 30 days, Administrators: 44 days, Vice President/President: 60 days). If proper resignation notice is not received, the employee will forfeit all vacation leave earned in the current fiscal year. Please see the Vacation Leave Rule for more information on vacation leave payouts. Provided the employee gives proper resignation notice based on their employee class (see above in Resignation Notice), that employee will be paid out a portion of their sick leave. Please see the Sick Leave Rule for more information on how the leave payout is calculated according to your hire date and employee class. If you have questions regarding how your leave payout is calculated, please contact benefits@scf.edu. Any leave payout equal to or greater than $2,500 will be sent to a BENCOR 401(a) Special Pay Plan. For more information on the BENCOR 401(a) Special Pay Plan, please click here. To contact BENCOR, please call 1-866-296-9712.
Change of Address: Before you leave the college, if you are moving, please update your address through Employee Self-Service by logging on to the MYSCF portal. This will ensure that your W2 will be sent to the correct address at tax time.
Retirement Accounts: If you contributed to any supplemental retirement accounts (beyond FRS), contact information will be provided in your benefits exit meeting.
Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) Information: You will receive COBRA information from Human Resources at your exit meeting. Basic COBRA information may be found by clicking here.
