Accessibility Statement

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) is dedicated to ensuring that its website is easily accessible to all users and aligns with the Web Accessibility Initiative and Section 508 Accessibility Standard. The goal of “Web Content Accessibility” is to enhance the user-friendliness and inclusivity of our content, making it accessible to individuals with diverse abilities or disabilities.

We value input from our users on how to further enhance website accessibility for those with disabilities. If individuals utilizing assistive technology encounter any challenges accessing information due to the format of content on our website, we encourage them to reach out to our Web Team. Please include in your email: A description of the accessibility issue you’ve encountered. The specific web address (URL) of the content or page you’re referring to. Your contact information so we can better assist you in addressing the concern.

Digital accessibility is an ongoing responsibility. SCF works to incorporate accessibility into the creation, development, procurement, maintenance, and review of digital content and technology.

We encourage students, employees, visitors, and members of the community to report accessibility barriers and provide feedback. Your feedback helps us identify areas for improvement and create a more accessible digital experience for everyone.

Accessibility Standards

SCF is committed to developing and maintaining digital content in accordance with applicable accessibility requirements and recognized accessibility standards and guidelines.

SCF uses the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as a guide for improving the accessibility of web content and digital services. WCAG is developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) through its Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) and provides internationally recognized recommendations for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities.

SCF also considers applicable requirements under Florida Statutes Chapter 282, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) when developing, procuring, maintaining, and providing electronic information and technology.

Our goal is to provide information and services that are accessible to everyone. Where digital content or technology presents an accessibility barrier, SCF will work to provide an accessible alternative or another effective means of access, as appropriate.

Accessibility Barriers and Alternative Access

If you encounter an accessibility barrier while using an SCF website, digital service, online application, document, video, or other digital content, we encourage you to let us know. Reporting an accessibility issue helps us identify barriers and improve the accessibility of our digital content.

When reporting an issue, please provide as much information as possible, including:

  • The web page, document, or digital content where you encountered the problem
  • A description of the accessibility barrier
  • The type of device you were using, if relevant
  • The web browser or other software you were using, if relevant
  • The assistive technology you were using, if applicable
  • Any other information that may help us understand or reproduce the issue

You do not need to know which accessibility standard or technical requirement may be involved. Simply describe the problem you experienced, and SCF will work to determine the appropriate next steps.

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) is committed to ensuring equal access to college programs, services, and activities for qualified students with disabilities. The DRC assists students with disabilities through the provision of reasonable accommodations, information, resources, services, and skill development. The DRC promotes student self-advocacy through collaboration with faculty, staff, and SCF campus resources.
